The Best in Turf Meets the Best in Surf as Turtle Bay Resort Hosts Charity Benefit

Turtle Bay Resort, the only destination resort on Oahu’s fabled North Shore, is gearing up for the 2013 Pro Bowl by hosting National Football League stars and top professional surf athletes for a surf experience, golf day and concert January 23 and 24 to benefit the Mauli Ola Foundation.

The surf experience day will include participation by professional surfers Alana Blanchard, Maya Gabeira, Coco Ho, Rochelle Ballard, Makua Rothman, Kala Alexander, Jason Magallanes, Jamie O’Brien, Reef McIntosh and John John Florence. Later that evening, the resort’s Surfer, The Bar, will host a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist, Hawaii’s own John Cruz and Paula Fuga. The next day, NFL players Marcus Allen, Christian Okoye, Eric Dickerson, Chris Conte, Tony Gonzalez and the elite crew of surfing professionals will lead in an ocean-side golf day.

FIRST INSURANCE COMPANY OF HAWAII NAMES JEFF SHONKA SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 

HONOLULU – The First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH) board of directors has elected Jeff Shonka senior vice president, chief operating officer (COO). Shonka joined FICOH in 2002 as its chief financial officer. With this promotion, Shonka has assumed responsibility for key operational areas of the company, including Claims, Personal and Commercial Lines, Legal, Surety & Fidelity, and First Risk Management Services (FiRMS), a subsidiary brokerage operation for non-standard risks.

“Jeff is an invaluable member of the executive team who during his 10 years with First Insurance has not only earned the respect and trust of our officers, but of his department, our company and other industry leaders in Hawaii,” said Allen Uyeda, president and CEO of First Insurance.

Hawaii State Junior Golf Association announces yardage from first round

The following information is provided by the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association:

Kahuku, Hawaii, September 29, 2012 — The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) has completed the first round of the 2012 HSJGA Oahu Junior Classic at the Turtle Bay George Fazio Course. 

Round two commences tomorrow (Sunday) with the first groups teeing off at 7:30 AM on both the 1st and 10th tees.
