Turtle Bay Unveils a New Approach to Wellness: Nalu Kinetic Spa

Information provided by Turtle Bay Resort:

NORTH SHORE, OAHU, HI (April 29, 2013) – Today, Turtle Bay Resort opened the doors to its reinvented surfside spa-fitness-wellness center, Nalu Kinetic Spa, a distinctive and energetic environment for the complete immersion in total health.

Definition:

  • Nalu: Hawaiian for wave and ocean surf
  • Kinetic + Spa: Where movement, water and the movement of water converge to support wellness

Perched on the edge of the world’s most exalted waves, Nalu Kinetic Spa is surrounded by water and movement. This powerful energy is surprisingly calming similar to “meditation in motion” or the calm with the chaos. With Nalu Kinetic Spa’s goal being more than purely aesthetic, like the ocean itself, it will gently push you to a new place.

Oahu's 'Country' Medical Center providing North Shore residents and visitors with quality care

For a health care facility to be located in a somewhat remote and rural location there can be a number of challenges. But, Kahuku Medical Center (KMC) is excited to mark its fifth year as the Critical Access Hospital dedicated to serve the busy North Shore and Ko’olauloa community residents and tourists to provide excellent quality care.

KMC is situated on seven acres in Kahuku owned by Continental Pacific, LLC. KMC's lease, negotiated with Campbell Estate who first owned the property, runs until 2049. The lease is independent of land ownership.

“Since becoming a non-profit affiliate of HHSC in 2008, KMC continues to play an integral part of health care delivery in the North Shore communities of Oahu,” said Avery Chumbley, HHSC Corporate Board Chair.  “The access patients have to personalized care is significant and we are proud to see the positive impact KMC has had, and will continue to have, on the community.”

Hospice Hawaii hosts 12th annual family camp

Hospice Hawaii’s will be holding it’s 12th annual Family Camp from June 24 through 26 at the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center in Punaluu.

The annual family camp, Ka Pilina Pulama, is for families and children 7-17 years old who have lost a loved one to death in the past three to four years. The camp gives children the opportunity to share their emotions about losing a loved one with other young people in similar situations.

“Everyone grieves in their own way, but young children may not know how to verbalize their feelings about a death in the family and need more support than adults do,” said Kenneth Zeri, president and CPO of Hospice Hawaii. “The children will learn that they’re not alone while coping with their loss.”

The camp provides children and families a weekend of fun activities and introspective exercises to assist with their process of loss, grief, remembrance and healing.

Camp registration is $50 per family.
